Food speaks of Amma’s journey initiated as a daughter in a large family in rural Sembawang. First recipes were learnt from her mother and elder sisters through daily practice. Then as a young bride in a multi-generational household.
Moving into a new 3-room HDB flat with small kids, she shared dishes and recipes with her multiracial neighbours.
Amma’s commercial cooking experience started when she made pooris and bajis in a relative’s breakfast stall in a coffeeshop. Fast forward to present day, Amma still enjoys learning and adapting recipes from cable TV to feed family and friends in her home.
